FOR's Posting Guidelines

Fairbanks Open Radio strongly supports the 1st Amendment and seeks to uphold its fundamental principles. No one will actively censor the contributions made to this site.

At the same time, FOR’s mission is such that it wishes to discourage ad hominem attacks. We believe that name calling is not an effective debating tool and that it does not lead to civil and productive discussion. If you find yourself disagreeing with the comments that a fellow contributer makes, please respond by questioning the comments themselves, not the character of the person who made them.

FOR has also made a distinction between opinion and news on its site. FOR’s news section is set aside for items that can be factually verified. It’s meant to be an unbiased presentation of happenings in Fairbanks and around the world that a FOR member has found news worthy. The opinion and forum sections, on the other hand, are places set aside for members and the public to talk about pretty much anything at all. FOR asks that you follow this distinction by putting facts in the news section and opinion in the opinion and forum sections.

Finally, since FOR is committed to following federal, state and local laws, we reserve the right to remove any member and public contributions that we believe are in violation of those laws. Such violations may include but are not limited to posts that plagiarize or otherwise violate copyright protections, incite illegal activity, or contain illegal hate speech. Any post that FOR removes will be archived and a reason for its removal will be stated publicly on the site.
